ATTENTION

I suppose I should clear some things up. Since some of you seem to have the wrong idea about our intentions.

This is not to favor anyone over anyone else. We're not doing this to take the admins Jobs, no no, not at ALL. The point is the admins have ALOT to do. They dont have time to scope out harassment, that's why they give us the help desk. Many do not even report harassment when they see it. The assume someone else will, and go on. The type of things we're worried about is the constant rude remarks made on some people's pages. While most of the time these people walk the fine line and stay within the rules of DA, we are here to catch them when they slip up. It took me two weeks to finally get someone TEMP banned for their harassment. TWO WEEKS. Admins dont have time to sit around and do what I did do out of the concern for my friends. I DID take it to the admins. I did do it the way I was suppose to. I made a few attempts to talk to this person to leave these people alone. But the harassment and verbal abuse continued. Because they could, and it wasn't any ONE remark, it was many many small cutdowns. That will wear down on someone, but it was done so much these people nearly wanted to quit everything, because of one person....some people are emotionally unstable, and it IS possible for this to be uncontrolable (by that person) life can really bring some people down. Depression does happen, and it's people like that who cause alot of emotionally unstable people to quit what they love, and possbily to the extent of suicide. And if you've never experienced those things with people you love. I pray you never do.

Everyone has the right to be happy, everyone has the right to be sad. There are those that suck for attention, you just have to know how to talk to them, because they DO need the attention, but maybe not the way they'd like, but it should NEVER be negative attention.

THAT is why we are here, to provide moral support for those in pain and to watch over them, as extended wings of DA. No we may not be admins, and we may just be members. But we as members have the right to voice our concerns when it comes to personal harm. Without the members DA is nothing, and some of these harassments have cause people to flat out leave DA, as great as the service and the site is. They've left for nothing other than harassment by rude obnoxious people, and because no one caught anything for DA Admins to witness the problem.

We have nothing against DA or the admins and what they do...in fact they do ALOT more than I've ever seen ANY other site do. This place feels like home to alot of people. Some of us LOVE to spend HOURS here. It's a magnificent place. Therefor it should never be tainted.

One last note, we're not here to get the people who make these rude comments banned. Only to enlighten them that they are HURTING people.
The one temp ban I suceeded in getting has seemed to work. And should it happen again we will report again. That is all.

I hope this has cleared some things up for those concerned about our intentions.

Here are some General coverage rules about harassment and such :

Harrasment and policy violation reporting
For this we just need to know who is causing you a problem (so the username, or link to their userpage), along with links to particular cases of misconduct – since when we then contact the policy violation team, they’ll require that proof to act.

Ban enquiries
Firstly – don’t get angry at us! We incredibly rarely ban anyone at the helpdesk, so it’s *highly* unlikely that it was us, personally, who banned you. So, if you want help from us, stay calm, state your case clearly, and we’ll assure that your case and argument for un-banning is made to the correct admin. We can’t promise you’ll be un-banned mind you. We can also let you know the length of temporary bans.

By this, I mean that you will not return with rude comments of your own. It's possible to have a civil conversation and make simple requests without being rude. If you attempts do not work then you take other actions to help. Such as keeping up with the harassment comments and should you find something that deserves to be reported, report it. Yes some may insult art. But that's critique. Which is why I'm so very glad DA has added the new option for encouraged or discouraged critiquing.
However, there are times when it's an obvious attack. Then there are also times (such as journal comments) when the DA Member is personally attacked or cut down. This is what we're watching for. For art, there's not much you can do but suck it up, consider it, either change it, or dont. But in such case I quote James Hetfield
"Limiting yourself to please your audience is bullsh*t!"
But do consider what the critique was, even if it was harsh. It really depends on the statment.
Should any one member of this group be found to be rude or harassing, they will be removed from this group.

The reason I (*LuNar-doLLz) started this group was because there are alot of support groups, and that's wonderful, but not alot of defense groups...I've had friends on DA who have some troubles in their lives...as I'm sure you all have, Support was lovely but it just wasn't enough, something needed to be done.

The point of this group is also to go about protecting, without causing conflict. Not to say that you cannot comment to defend, but sometimes it's not in the best interest. For further information read the FAQ at the top of this entry.
